Mississippi Delta Community College has announced Chef David Crews, Culinary Arts instructor at the Greenville Higher Education Center, has been named the recipient of the prestigious 2025 TROJAN Teacher Award. The honor was presented during the Faculty and Staff Convocation on Monday, August 11, by Dr. Valarie Morgan, Vice President of Instruction and Accreditation/Provost.
The TROJAN Teacher Award—an acronym for Teachers Recognized for Optimism, Job Well Done, Academic Excellence, and Nurturing Students—celebrates instructors who embody excellence in teaching, dedication to student success, and active involvement in the MDCC community. To qualify, recipients must have served as full-time faculty members at MDCC for at least ten years, attend college functions, and participate in committees or student organizations.
“I am both honored and humbled to have been named the TROJAN Teacher of the Year,” says Crews. “It has been my mission each and every year at MDCC to impart my skills and knowledge that I have learned in the last twenty-five years in the industry into my students and encourage and push them to follow their dreams and become the best they can be.”
